What is a Full-Mouth Restoration?
A full-mouth restoration is a comprehensive treatment utilizing numerous dental procedures to correct multiple problems within a patient’s smile. It combines both restorative and cosmetic procedures to provide a patient with a smile that is pleasing to the eye and enables them to speak and eat comfortably.
A full-mouth restoration may include the following treatments:
- Crowns

Who Could Benefit from a Full-Mouth Restoration?
Typically, a patient benefitting from full-mouth restoration will have a variety of problems with their mouth. Such as crooked teeth, missing teeth, old worn out or failing crowns. Deterioration in this manner, often leads to Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMD). The teeth may also wear down and shorten. This results in fracturing porcelain crowns, fillings, and other teeth. The initial treatment is to focus upon the TMD problem. Dr. Bryce refers to this as "Phase One" therapy. After completing a computer analysis of the patients head and neck muscles, a determination of what will be done can be made.
Phase One Dental Therapy
During the first one or two appointments, the following will be accomplished:
- Evaluation of the patient's subjective signs and symptoms through using a Pain Chart, Fatigue Questionnaire, Epworth Sleepiness Scale, etc. Here are our new patient forms that will need to be completed.
- Evaluation of medical history, medications and vitals (blood pressure, pulse rate, etc.)
- Periodontal screening and dental exam.
- Muscle palpation along with recording of sensitivities.
- Evaluation of complete history of your situation.
- Necessary x-rays; including CBCT (3-D imaging).
- Bioelectric measurement of your jaw movements and EMG's (electromyography).
- TENS to relax the muscles.
- Manual manipulations and stretching to decompress the TMJ's.
- Creation of an Orthotic to recreate where the teeth are supposed to meet. The orthotic will be diagnostic and therapeutic. Most of your symptoms will go away by wearing the orthotic.

Once you are feeling better, and your new bite (jaw position) has been determined you may elect to have a full-mouth restoration. You may now be ready for "Phase Two".
